Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Program

For decades, Boston Children's orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine team have led the way in caring for athletes of all ages with an ACL tear. We pioneered ACL reconstruction techniques tailored to the patient’s age and physical maturity, and we lead the way in developing new approaches to ACL surgery.

Female Athlete Program

The experts in our Female Athlete Program use a comprehensive approach in diagnosis, treatment, and management in keeping female athletes healthy and at the top of their game. Our caregivers assess the whole athlete and evaluate exercise habits, hormonal balance, and nutritional needs, not just symptoms and injuries, to ensure peak performance.

Injured Runners Clinic

Since 35 to 75 percent of runners need medical treatment each year for running-related injuries, running safely is crucial. The Injured Runners Clinic was developed to help runners of all ages and abilities who have chronic injuries.

Performing Artist Athletes Program

Our dedicated team understands the unique needs and psychology of performing artist athletes of all ages and levels of competition. We provide specialized care in the many areas that affect performing artist athletes, including nutrition, bone and endocrine health, sports psychology, and rehabilitative care for overuse injuries.

Spine and Sports Program

The Spine and Sports Program provides evaluation and full-service treatment for athletes with spine conditions and stable spine injuries. Our multidisciplinary practice includes sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and orthotists in the NOPCO brace shop.

Sports Concussion Clinic

The Sports Concussion Clinic is the leading, research-based sports concussion program. Our team of experts delivers cutting-edge care for athletes with sports concussion, and we provide education to athletes and their families about concussion prevention and recovery.

Sports Ultrasound Clinic

Ultrasound is a safe and effective way to examine the musculoskeletal system of the body to detect problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and soft tissue without exposure to radiation. Ultrasound can be used to help diagnose and treat sports-related conditions such as synovitis, bursitis, or tendinitis.

The Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention

Our team of clinicians, scientists, activists, and technologists use evidence-based strategies to help reduce the risk of injury for young athletes while enhancing their sports performance. We also conduct medical and scientific research on preventing sports injuries and the effects of exercise on health and wellness.
