Today, one of the biggest distractions for drivers is their cellphone. Whether it is texting, answering an incoming call, using google maps, or searching for the latest weather forecast…it’s dangerous to look at your phone for any reason while driving.
Massachusetts state law: Drivers under 18 are banned from using any mobile device for any reason while driving. All drivers, regardless of age or license status, are banned from texting while behind the wheel.

If you are the driver…
- Shut your phone off while driving.
- Put your phone on silent.
- If you are driving with friends…designate a texter.
- If you need to use your phone in an emergency, PULL OVER!

If you are the passenger…

- Offer to text or make a call for them.
- Point out other distracted drivers to the texter.
- Point out the dangers of driving and texting as a group.
- Before driving, tell them about the safe driving apps you have downloaded.
- If all else fails, don’t ride with them.
