Ranked among the best children’s hospital by U.S. News & World Report

Widely considered the leading publisher of hospital rankings, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Boston Children’s among the best in the nation. U.S. News & World Report's hospital rankings are based on a wide range of factors, including reputation among pediatric specialists, medical outcomes, and care-related indicators of quality, such as nurse staffing and the availability of specialized services.

Magnet Recognition by ANCC

For the fifth year in a row, Boston Children’s Hospital achieved Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). We are one of only a handful of hospitals in the country — eight percent — to achieve this status. Magnet status signifies an organization with world-class nursing that provides quality patient care and has a track record of developing innovations that improve professional nursing practice.

LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader by HEI

For the fifth year in a row, Boston Children's was selected as a Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality by Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). The 406 U.S. health care facilities awarded this title met key criteria, including patient and employee non-discrimination policies that specifically mention sexual orientation and gender identity, a guarantee of equal visitation for same-sex partners and parents, and transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits for employees.

Emergency Nurses Association’s Lantern Award

Becker’s Hospital Review recognized Boston Children’s as one of 19 emergency departments across the U.S. to receive the 2018-2020 Emergency Nurses Association’s Lantern Award, which honors EDs that demonstrate excellent performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.

ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program

Boston Children’s Hospital has received accreditation with distinction for our Transition to Nursing Practice Program from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP®). The Practice Transition Accreditation Program is widely viewed as the highest standard for residency or fellowship programs that transition registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) into new professional practice settings.

Becker’s Hospital Review, an essential publication for hospital and health system leaders, selected Boston Children’s as a 2019 “Great Hospital.” Selections are made based on leadership, innovation, excellence in clinical care, patient outcomes, and staff and physician satisfaction.
