Research | Overview

The Voice and Velopharyngeal Dysfunction Center is involved in clinical research in several areas, with collaboration between our physicians, speech-language pathologists, and nurses. Areas of research focus include:

  • vocal fold nodules, treatment, progression
  • vocal fold dysfunction
  • voice outcomes of pre-term infants
  • voice aberrations associated with use of vagal nerve stimulators in children
  • voice quality associated with vocal fold immobility
  • laryngeal abnormalities in children with congenital tracheoesophageal fistula and esophageal atresia
  • use of MR angiogram imaging in children with 22q11 deletion syndrome
