At the Fetal Care and Surgery Center, our extensive experience in fetal care has shown that the earlier an anomaly can be correctly diagnosed, the greater the chances of survival and a higher quality of life. This is why we provide state-of-the-art diagnostics and imaging powered by a team of specialists with expertise in identifying fetal abnormalities and prenatal conditions, and who collaborate closely with your primary obstetrics team. Our goal is to empower you to make informed decisions about your care throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
Our imaging and diagnostic methods include:
- Prenatal ultrasound: A prenatal ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of your fetus; it is used to track their growth and development.
- Fetal MRI: Fetal MRI is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses magnetic resonance to assess a fetus’ development and health, and detect potential abnormalities.
- Fetal echocardiography: Fetal echocardiography is a prenatal ultrasound technique that assesses a fetus’ heart structure and function.
Our specialists believe in open and honest discussions about imaging findings, test results, and treatment options. Some pregnancies with severe anomalies may require fetal surgery, which is offered at Boston Children’s MFCC. Other prenatal conditions may be closely monitored through imaging and prenatal consultations with our multidisciplinary team.
