Summary: The purpose of this project was to develop consensus treatment plans (CTPs) and response criteria for PFAPA for future studies to generate evidence-based therapeutic guidelines. Dr. Dedeoglu co-lead this project within the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA).

Consensus Treatment Plans for Chronic Nonbacterial Osteomyelitis Refractory to Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs and/or With Active Spinal Lesions

Summary: The aim of this study, conducted under the co-leadership of Dr. Dedeoglu, was to develop standardized treatment regimens for chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO), also known as chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO), so that meaningful data can be generated for use in future studies looking at treatment effectiveness.

Periodic Fever, Aphthosis, Pharyngitis, and Adenitis Syndrome: Analysis of Patients from Two Geographic Areas

Summary: Drs. Dedeoglu and Hausmann established a collaboration with several pediatric rheumatologists in Turkey to study children with Periodic Fever, Aphthosis, Pharyngitis, and Adenitis Syndrome (PFAPA Syndrome) in different geographic locations. They demonstrated that PFAPA patients have different symptoms in Turkey when compared to patients in the United States.
