The Boston Children’s Hospital Occupational Therapy Fellowship Program is 52 weeks, divided into several modules, covering neuro-developmental populations, acute inpatient care, developmental and childhood diseases, early intervention, pediatric upper extremity conditions, pediatric psychological and chronic pain, and augmentative communication and assistive technology. Fellows are compensated and are eligible for benefits through Boston Children’s Hospital because they are considered employees of the hospital. Fellowship dates: Aug. 19, 2024, to Aug. 15, 2025, allowing for the fellow to have time off during the year.
Highlights of the program include:
- shared didactic experiences with Harvard Medical School residency programs and LEND (Leadership, Education and Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders) Program
- acute inpatient care, outpatient care, community-based early intervention, participation in multidisciplinary care clinics
- augmentative communication, adaptive technology and adaptive equipment, and seating evaluations and programming
- acute and subacute psychological OT care
- chronic pediatric pain module at the Mayo Family Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Center at our Waltham campus
- participation in research
- teaching opportunities
Admission requirements
- graduate of an OT program accredited by ACOTE or approved by the WFOT (required by AOTA)
- have successfully passed the NBCOT exam for initial certification (required by AOTA)
- minimum of three years of experience as an occupational therapist
- meets all the requirements for employment at Boston Children’s Hospital
- licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts
- current CPR certification
