Heartsaver Courses | Overview
The Boston Children’s Hospital Life Support Program is committed to supporting the CPR and First Aid courses that are accessible to the community within Boston and its surrounding areas. AHA’s Heartsaver courses are designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
Heartsaver CPR AED
This Heartsaver courses teaches the basic skills of adult, child, and infant CPR and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator). This course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign body airway obstruction.
This course is offered monthly. Please contact the Life Support Program for schedule of available classes.

Provider manual:
The American Heart Association requires all students to have a current BLS Provider manual available to them “before, during and after” the class. Students that have the manual prior to class are able to participate more fully in the class, and score better in the practical and written exams. Provider manuals are available included in the cost of your course.
Pocket mask:
Mouth-to-mask ventilation is a require skill of the Heartsaver AED course. All students are required to have their own pocket masks. Students are not allowed to share masks. Pocket masks are available for purchase from the Life Support Office when you register of the course registration
Heartsaver First Aid
The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid in a safe, timely, and effective manner. First Aid training is available for the adult or pediatric population and can be combined with CPR modules. Please contact the Life Support Program for further information or to schedule a course.
