Tal Geva | Professional History
Dr. Geva is the cardiologist-in-chief and chairman of the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. His major clinical and research interests focus on diagnostic imaging of congenital heart disease, including anatomic and functional assessment of complex malformations using echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging. He established and developed the cardiac MRI program and was chief of the Cardiac Imaging Division until assuming my current role. His clinical practice focuses on management of patients with complex congenital heart disease and pediatric cardiac tumors. His research has concentrated on the development of echocardiographic and cardiac MRI methods to define quantitative functional and morphometric predictors of course and outcome in native and postoperative congenital cardiac lesions. More recently, his group’s research efforts have concentrated on three areas: 1) Development of quantitative methods to assess the right ventricle in patients with congenital heart disease; 2) Prediction of adverse clinical outcomes in patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). His group has published extensively on this topic and is now leading an international multicenter cohort (INDICATOR) that aims to identify risk factors for death and sustained ventricular tachycardia in late survivors of repaired TOF; and 3) Quality improvement in the domain of cardiac imaging.
