Dr. Sieberg is a Clinical Psychologist in the Pain Treatment Service at Boston Children's Hospital and an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is Co-founder and Co-Director of the Biobehavioral Pediatric Pain Lab. Dr. Sieberg is also an Adjunct faculty member at Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sieberg is a summa cum laude graduate of Boston College where she studied Human Development and Education. She holds a Master of Education with a specialization in Risk and Prevention in Children from Harvard University and a Master of Arts in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College. Dr. Sieberg earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a dual focus in Child and Health Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2009. She completed her APA-approved Clinical Psychology Internship at Brown Medical School and a two-year Clinical-Research Fellowship with the Pain Treatment Service at Boston Children's Hospital where she was also an international trainee with the Pain in Child Health (PICH): Canadian Institutes of Health Research Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research.
Dr. Sieberg’s research in the area of pediatric pain has included measure development, treatment outcome, and the exploration of biopsychosocial factors contributing to persistent and chronic pain. A major focus of her research is to identify children who demonstrate amplified Central Nervous System processing of pain-related information, and who are at elevated risk for adverse pain-related outcomes and reduced benefits of pain-reducing treatments, as well as the exploration of gene-environment interactions. Dr. Sieberg's research encompasses both pre-clinical and clinical models and has been funded by the Office of Faculty Development at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard University, the Noonan Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. She collaborates with colleagues in the Departments of Orthopedics and the F.M. Kirby Neurobiology Center at Boston Children's Hospital as well as at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Stanford University School of Medicine, and the University of Michigan.
Dr. Sieberg has served as Co-Chair of the Salary and Resource Equity Committee for the Joint Commission on the Status of Women at Harvard Medical School and is currently serving a three-year term on the Harvard Medical School Faculty Council. She is also past Chair for the Society of Pediatric Psychology and Young Adult Special Interest Group. Dr. Sieberg also thoroughly enjoys mentoring students and trainees. She is a faculty advisor for the Program for Research Assistant Development and Achievement at Boston Children's Hospital and is a mentor for the Harvard Graduate Women in Science and Engineering Mentoring Program. Dr. Sieberg accepts undergraduates and graduate students in Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine to complete research internships each year.
