Why choose the Sports Concussion Clinic at Boston Children’s?
Our physicians are leaders in establishing safe guidelines for returning to play after a concussion and reducing the risk of future injury. We treat more than 1,000 athletes with concussions every year. Using the knowledge gained through our extensive experience and research, we have helped set standards in the management of concussion recovery that hospitals around the country have started to implement.
Our services include ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) baseline testing. By recording an athlete’s normal, healthy memory and reaction time before they have suffered a concussion, ImPACT provides important data clinicians can use in case of a concussion to determine when an athlete is ready to return to play. We recommend concussion baseline testing for all student-athletes.
We collaborate regularly with specialists in the Brain Injury Center, Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Neuropsychology to ensure every athlete who comes to us receives the specific care they need to recover from concussion. Those with a non-sports related concussion are cared for in our Brain Injury Center.
